Fathel Neema
Fathel Neema (b. 1964) is an Iraqi -Dutch artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad. He also attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, where he later completed a post-graduate course in graphic techniques. Neema is a member of ArtiBrak and Pulchri Studio.
Fathel Neema is a mixed-media artist, whose work reflects on war, politics, and societal hardships. Signature elements like stamps and numbers in his pieces underline themes of identity and existence. While acknowledging art's limitations against societal and political dysfunctions, Neema believes in art as an expressive and impactful form of communication.
He held solo exhibitions in Lebanon, Qatar, Germany, Netherlands, and Austria. He was also part of group exhibitions in Iraq, Jordan, Netherlands, Germany, and China.
