OVERSIZED
The idea began with the way militias exploit children, enlisting them for tasks far beyond their strength. To bring this concept to life, I asked my son to wear a military-style vest for a photograph. He agreed, laughing: “Look! I look so ridiculous! This isn’t me! Imagine having to do everything you ask just because you’re my dad!” In that moment, a new dimension of the idea opened up to me Our leaders, too small for the weight of their responsibilities, impose on us laws and policies that bear no resemblance to who we are.

“Cats on Canvas“ brings together works by emerging and established artists, each interpreting cats through their own artistic vision, across painting, drawing, and photography. A timeless muse throughout the ages, from classical masters to modern icons like Picasso, Paul Klee, Matisse, Miró, and Chagall, the cat has long captivated artists with its grace, mystery, and unapologetic attitude. This exhibition celebrates the many ways cats continue to roam the canvas, evoking elegance, enigma, and artistic freedom.
When The Earth Dreams
The story begins in the roots of my village in the Bekaa. The earth is more than a place, it’s a feeling. It lives in the scent of rain on soil, the silence of fields, and the details memory quietly holds. My bond with the land isn’t nostalgia, but a living emotion that shapes what I see and paint. This exhibition isn’t about documenting a place. It explores our emotional connection to the land, one that embraces everyone, beyond names or boundaries. In my paintings, lines twist like roots, expressing a deep sense of belonging. Moving between abstraction and symbolism, I try to convey what can’t be said aloud: the invisible thread tying us to our origins. When the earth dreams, it invites us to dream too, to remember we are made of the same clay, shaped by the same rain, walking the same soil.

Surrounded by the spontaneity and energy of young children, the artist captures the essence of youthful wonder and the diverse personalities of kids she has encountered and taught. This body of work celebrates the spontaneity and uninhibited creativity of childhood.
Each piece in "The Happy Prince," rendered in a lively palette of acrylics, pastels, and sprays, tells a story in which the children depicted become characters in their own right. The artist positions the child first, allowing their dreamscape to unfold freely that result in vibrant, dynamic scenes mirroring children's unfiltered creativity.
The exhibition also explores the complex aspects of childhood, such as the moments of intense emotion that lead to hysterical cries or mischievous laughter. These elements highlight the purity and rawness of children's experiences.
The concept of the inner child is central. Throughout "The Happy Prince", the artist’s main message is the importance of preserving a childlike sense of wonder and creativity throughout one’s life.

Through her paintings, Matta pays homage to the wonders of nature, which she views as a source of pristine purity, captivating distinctiveness, and invigorating vitality. For Matta, painting nature is a means of forging a deep and profound connection with the boundless creative energies of the universe, allowing her to tap into a wellspring of inspiration and express her reverence for the natural world in all its glory.
It is evident that the artist's creative vision extends beyond capturing natural scenery, such as pine trees, dredies, and wild plants scattered throughout the mountainside. Instead, she skillfully depicts the vital energy that courses through the interweaving spaces of nature, which undergoes constant cycles of growth and decline.
Moreover, Nada Matta's artworks celebrate the human body as an image of
love, portraying it in a way that highlights its beauty and magnidcence, even with its imperfections. In her eyes, the daws of the body matter little when one is loved, as love transcends earthly considerations and embraces the entire being. Through her paintings, Matta promotes a message of acceptance and appreciation for the human body, which is a vessel of life and love. Her art encourages viewers to see themselves and others in a more positive light, to celebrate their uniqueness and embrace their €aws as part of their inherent beauty.
Matta's paintings portray a profound relationship between human beings and
the natural world. Through her works, she juxtaposes the human form with natural elements, such as trees and wild grasses, accentuating the interdependence and interconnectedness of humans and nature. Through her paintings, Matta reminds us of the intrinsic beauty and vitality of the natural world and suggests that by connecting with nature, we can dnd inspiration and solace in our daily lives.
Nada Matta s artistic approach is characterized by a deft use of various materials, including Chinese ink, colored acrylic, and gold leaf, that converge in a harmonious synthesis to create a multi-layered and immersive visual experience for the viewer. The use of Chinese ink imbues her paintings with an effortless sense of duidity and dynamism. Similarly, the application of gold leaf confers an added dimension of richness and texture to her work, lending a luminous quality to the natural landscapes she depicts.
