La Mer
As part of Beirut Art Days 2026, Art Scene Gallery presents La Mer, a collective exhibition bringing together a diverse group of contemporary artists around a theme that is both universal and deeply rooted in the Lebanese experience: the sea.
For centuries, the sea has been a place of encounter, departure, longing, freedom, and transformation. In Lebanon, it is inseparable from the landscape and collective memory, a horizon that connects, separates, shelters, and inspires. Through painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and works on paper, the participating artists explore the sea not only as a physical space, but also as a territory of emotion, imagination, and personal reflection.
The exhibition embraces a wide range of interpretations. Some works depict coastal landscapes, marine life, and scenes by the water, while others approach the theme more symbolically, evoking movement, migration, nostalgia, resilience, and the passage of time. Together, these perspectives reveal the richness of the sea as a source of artistic inspiration and as a metaphor for the human experience.
Presented in the heart of Beirut, La Mer invites visitors to experience a dialogue between artists, generations, and mediums, each offering a unique vision shaped by their own memories, observations, and relationship to the sea.
