RIYAD NEHME

   The idea began with the way militias exploit children, enlisting them for tasks far beyond their strength. To bring this concept to life, I asked my son to wear a military-style vest for a photograph. He agreed, laughing: “Look! I look so ridiculous! This isn’t me! Imagine having to do everything you ask just because you’re my dad!” In that moment, a new dimension of the idea opened up to me Our leaders, too small for the weight of their responsibilities, impose on us laws and policies that bear no resemblance to who we are.

بدأت الفكرة من استغلال الميليشيات للاطفال وتجنيدهم للقيام بمهمّات كبيرة. حاولت أن أترجم هذه الفكرة ، فطلبت من ابني أن يرتدي سترة اشبه بالعسكرية لأصوره. وافق وضحك وقال "أنظر! كم ابدو مضحكاً!" انها لا تشبهني! تخيّل انني انفذ كل ماتطلبه مني باعتبارك ابي!. هنا انفتح أمامي افق آخر للفكرة ..ان حكامنا اصغر من مهماتهم، ويفرضون علينا سياسات وقوانين لا تشبهنا.
