Moustafa Farroukh
Moustafa Farroukh (1901–1957) was a pioneering Lebanese artist trained in Rome and Paris. Returning to Beirut in 1932, he became a leading figure in Lebanese modern art, teaching at AUB and exhibiting widely. His work focused on humanistic themes, landscapes, and architecture, using expressive brushwork and vibrant yet soft colors. Farroukh challenged cultural norms by introducing the nude tradition in Lebanon and engaged with nationalist subjects. He influenced many artists and helped shape Lebanon’s artistic identity during a time of social change.
