Yaser Safi

Yaser Safi, (Qamishli, Syria, 1976) graduated with a BFA in 1997 and a Diploma of Superior Studies in Graphic Art in 1999 from Damascus University. He received an Honor Award from Instituto Cervantes, Damascus, Syria in 2000 and won first place at the Second Syrian Youth Exhibition in 2001.

Drawing from his experiences in Syria and cities like Damascus and Berlin, Yaser Safi infuses his art with influences from everyday life and Oriental and Islamic art. His paintings feature abstract characters that encapsulate societal contradictions and symbolism within simple representations, exploring self-identity and the complexity of social interactions.

Safi's artworks have become part of prestigious collections at various museums, such as The National Museum in Damascus, the British Museum in London, the Museum of Islamic Art in Berlin, and The National Museum in Jordan.
