Roudy Mattar
Roudy Mattar is a Lebanese architect and painter based in Beirut, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. A graduate of the Lebanese University's Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), he holds a master's degree in Architecture and has been practicing diligently since his graduation.
From a young age, Roudy's passion for painting became evident, growing and evolving alongside his architectural pursuits. His paintings, deeply influenced by the urban environment and architectural landscapes he inhabits, act as transcriptions of the world around him. He often integrates elements of his architectural work into his art, be it through color or the textures of materials he chooses—such as cardboard, wood, or canvas.
Central to Roudy's work is the background color, an element as vital as the texture of the chosen medium. In 2022, he began showcasing his art, notably the "Beirut series" which captures iconic architectural landmarks and vivid urban scenes. Through his art, Roudy illuminates the scars, chaos, and authentic spirit of Beirut, celebrating its unparalleled character and essence.
