Charles Khoury
Charles Khoury (b. 1966, Beirut) is a Lebanese contemporary artist and graduate of the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), specializing in lithography. Active since 1989, he has exhibited widely across Europe and the Middle East, including in France, the UK, Dubai, Kuwait, Egypt, China, and Lebanon. In 2008, he received the Special Jury Award at the Sursock Museum in Beirut.
Khoury’s work is deeply influenced by his experiences growing up during the Lebanese war. Inspired by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, and Pablo Picasso, his paintings evolved from darker war-related themes in the 1990s to more vibrant compositions featuring animals, birds, and imaginative figures symbolizing hope, coexistence, and harmony. In addition to painting, he creates colorful wooden animal sculptures. Khoury also participates in international art fairs and teaches Fine Arts at Saint Joseph School, Antoura.
