Fouad Dahdouh

Fouad Dahdouh, born in 1960 in Damascus, is a prominent Syrian artist who began as a sculptor before focusing on painting. Known for his vibrant, joyful use of color, his work blends influences from graffiti, set design, and traditional Damascene culture, and has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale.

His paintings often feature female silhouettes within dynamic, near-abstract compositions that reflect his playful, musical, and expressive personality. Beneath their lively surfaces, his works reveal subtle tension and underlying sadness through bold colors and fragmented forms.

With academic training across Syria, France, and Poland, Dahdouh developed a diverse, international style that remains open-ended and free from fixed identity.
