Jean-Marc Nahas
Jean-Marc Nahas is a Lebanese painter and draughtsman known for his expressive works exploring themes of war, peace, and human emotion. Born in Beirut, he moved to Paris at 17 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts, with his experiences during the Lebanese civil war deeply shaping his art.
His style is marked by rapid, rhythmic brushstrokes and sketch-like figures, often capturing characters mid-action with intense, emotive expressions. His work conveys a sense of intimacy and narrative, likened by the artist to poetry or storytelling.
Nahas has exhibited internationally and his works are held in major collections, including the British Museum and the Sursock Museum.
